One of the top corners in the country has trimmed his list. And the Ducks made the cut.

Long Beach Poly (Calif.) defensive back Daylen Austin is the No. 154 ranked player in the On3 Consensus Rankings. The 6-foot, 176-pounder is also the No. 18 ranked corner.

His list of schools that made the cut includes: Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Penn State, Nebraska and USC with the Ducks.

The Trojans are the current leader in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with 46% chance to land the four-star. Austin is reportedly expected to visit USC on Saturday for the Trojans Spring game.

On3 National Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons caught up with Austin following the release of the list. Here is what he had to say about Oregon.

“There is a strong defensive staff at Oregon and they are going to build a dominant defense. Coach Lanning comes from Georgia, coach Lupoi coached at Alabama, and they are going to be building something there. That stands out a lot.”

Austin took an unofficial visit to Oregon in mid-March. He tells Simmons he plans on taking all five official visits before making a decision.

On3 National Recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman has a little more on the recruitment of Austin. It sounds like the visit to Oregon made a huge impression on Austin and has the Ducks in the running for his commitment.

Additionally, sources have pointed to Oregon as another team to beat out of the Pac-12. Austin was in Eugene this spring after first-year Ducks coach Dan Lanning was heavily involved in his recruitment during his previous stop as Georgia’s defensive coordinator.
