So far in the 2023 recruiting class, Dan Lanning and the Oregon staff have made the defensive line a clear priority. While Oregon was solid against the run this season, the line failed to generate a consistent pass rush.
Despite holding five prep commitments in his position group, it appears Oregon might not be done. So it has made 4-star Ashton Porter another top target.
Porter is a top 300 prospect in the On3 Consensus Rankings. He’s currently the No. 294 ranked player nationally.
Oregon is hard after Porter, but the Ducks aren’t the only ones. “Michigan State and Oregon have been recruiting me the hardest” Porter told ScoopDuck.

The Cypress (Texas) prep also is looking at a few other schools, most notably TCU.
“The schools I’m considering right now are Michigan State, Oregon and TCU,” he said.
Oregon hosts Porter this weekend for an official visit. What is he looking forward to the most?
“I’m excited to meet Mr. (Phil) Knight,” he said, “and just be around some other commits. Just happy to be back on campus.”
Porter said he has a great relationship with Oregon’s staff.
“I’ll say, coach (Dan) Lanning, coach (Tosh) Lupoi, coach (Tony) Tuioti and Tyler Dean,” he said.
As of right now, Oregon is the only visit that he has planned. He also said he’d like to take a trip to Colorado before he signs.
Porter has locked in a commitment date of Jan. 3.
