Illinois HC Bret Bielema on Oregon
On Monday Illinois head coach Bret Bielema met with media to discuss the program’s big win over Michigan. He also talked about the chance to get ready for this weekend’s matchup with Oregon on Saturday.
The Fighting Illini are coming off a big program win over Michigan and entering the top 20 of the AP poll.
Here are some of his top quotes from the interview as it relates to Oregon.
Opening Statement:
“A chance to play the No. 1 team in the country is always special. Knew Oregon going into this season was going to have a really good team. Our biggest trek of the year, logistically, mile-wise. We’re leaving on Thursday. Super amount of respect to a young career of Dan Lanning. Very bright, intelligent football coach. Good players all over the place. A quarterback that is playing as good as anyone in the country.

Defensively they are very good, very well coached. But I like our group. A group that fights to get things done. Gotta be very smart in our preparation. Super excited about this opportunity.”
On Playing #1 Oregon:
“For me to ignore that would be silly. To get those moments are great. We gotta know that’s the No. 1 team in the country. They are for a reason. How we play is in our hands though. It’s in our preparation.”
