Interesting Running Back Enters Transfer Portal
Oregon has pushed ‘pause’ for the most part on its transfer portal efforts. After landing USC defensive tackle Bear Alexander recently Oregon has shifted attention to the game at hand, a Rose bowl meeting with Ohio State.
But on Friday an intriguing prospect decided to enter the transfer portal. Tulane running back Makhi Hughes announced his plans to enter the transfer portal. The talented sophomore running back put up big numbers for Tulane this season.
Listed at 5-foot-11, 210-pounds, Hughes racked up 1,401 rush yards and 15 touchdowns this season. He averaged 5.3 yards per rush. He has 2,779 total yards and 22 touchdowns at Tulane in two seasons.
Hughes is the older brother of one of Oregon’s 2025 signees. Oregon defensive back signee Na’eem Offord is his younger brother. It will be interesting to see if Oregon looks to pair up the two in Eugene.

To date, Oregon has not really pursued any running backs with much effort. They’ve been casually linked to a couple names but have yet to make any real push.
I would keep tabs on Hughes given this relationship and his success at Tulane the last two seasons. Along with Oregon, On3’s Pete Nakos suggests Duke, Ole Miss and Colorado as potential landing spots for Hughes.
We will work on gathering more information in this recruitment.
