A’lique Terry and the Oregon Ducks made a huge splash in the transfer portal when they landed massive 6-foot-8 Nevada offensive tackle Isaiah World. The two-time All-Mountain West honorable mention was On3’s No. 1 offensive tackle prospect in the transfer portal and discussed his transition to Oregon following Thursday’s spring practice.

Below are some of his top quotes.

On decision to transfer to Oregon

World: “The track record here has been unbelievable. Coach Lanning had a good program, a good system for me. I felt like this was just the right place for me to grow. It’s on the West Coast, I’m from San Diego. Wasn’t too far from home. I felt like this was the right place for me. I got a couple of my teammates from my high school here Jahlil Florence and Akili. It just felt like a good spot for me to be.”

On adjusting to competition level at Oregon, facing players like Matayo Uiagalaleji and Teitum Tuioti

World: “We got some good rushers here with Matayo. We got Elijah Rushing, it’s literally in his last name he knows how to rush. It’s definitely been a change in competition from the level, from playing in the Mountain West. It’s like a higher pace here. They rush faster, can bend the edge really well. It’s just been good to go against that so I can learn and be ready for anything any other school has for me. I feel like here has one of the best rushers as far as depth.”

On leaning on his relationship with Jahlil Florence during transfer portal recruitment

World: “That’s been my dog since high school. He told me what it was going to be like coming here. He told me the real about it too, it’s not like he gave me a bs story. He gave me the real, how hard it’s gonna be, the level of competition. We talked about it. I know what my goal is which is eventually to be one of the greatest in the NFL. This was the spot for me, was basically what we kind of came up to.”

On goals or this year

World: “Definitely just to become a student of the game. I know one of mine was just staying consistent. Coming here, we have all the resources for me to be consistent enough where I need to be and just staying focused on what I need to do every day. Even though it’s hard, just coming in every day with the same mindset. No overdoing it. No lows, no highs, just being right where need to be.”

On challenge of developing chemistry with other offensive linemen

World: “I think Coach Lanning does a good job of keeping us connected in a way. That was one of our team traits is connection, so we do a good job of that here. It’s just being connected and getting to know our teammates. Even how our living situation is arranged, I’m right next to Dave Iuli and under Sione. We don’t have any other choice but to go through it and understand our teammates in learning different moves. That’s another thing I feel like I can take the next step in is being able to understand the other side of the ball.”

On getting adjusted to a new setting

World: “Coach Walk has been helping me and Coach Terry and everybody they all help with translating the different playbooks. ‘Cause as far as O-line play all that stuff is really the same. You see similar looks. I think coach Lupoi is doing a good job of giving us different looks to maneuver and learn and challenge us. As far as learning the playbook and stuff that stuff is coming along easy. It’s just the different looks and the new terminology, translating it is a process.”
