It was a relatively calm but still informative weekend around college football. A lot of favorites won. Some others struggled to put lesser teams away. And we had a classic down in Tuscaloosa with two of the nation’s best. One has to wonder what kind of horseshoe Kalen Deboer must have to eek out these close wins at the end.

There isn’t a ton of movement from my top ten but there are some changes to be made. And while I don’t have a new No. 1 this week, I do have a new No. 2.

Here is last weeks top ten for reference. So far, I’ve been fortunate enough to be ahead of the curve and kept many of the same teams in my top ten.

  1. Texas – That was a big win for Bama who moves up. But I’m not pushing them ahead of Texas until we see the Horns slip up. That said, it’s 1A and 1B for me right now.
  2. Bama – Like I said above, it’s 1A and 1B for me with these two. Both are elite.
  3. Georgia – If Kirby Smart had woke his team up before the game they might not have lost. Still Ryan Williams is absurd and Kalen Deboer continues to find ways to win big games late.
  4. Ohio State – I’m going to be honest, 4-7 to me are in a tier down. And all are close.
  5. Tennessee – The team I’m still least confident about here but have to respect what they are doing. Luckily for UT they have one of the easiest SEC schedules of all time.
  6. Oregon – Just beat No. 4 in two weeks.
  7. Miami – There should be no resistance for Miami this season. I am slightly intrigued about this Cal game this weekend however.
  8. Penn State – 8-10 is a crap shoot for me. In fact, 8-20 is a crap shoot. I said it last week when I had Utah at 10, basically 10-25 could beat each other.
  9. Missouri – Quietly that team you hate to play. They find ways to scrap in games and while they aren’t elite on either side of the ball, they are solid on both.
  10. USC – Like I said last week at 10 (Utah), I have to put someone here. Could be Ole Miss, could be Michigan or hell, it could even be Boise State.
