Jhop's CFB Top Ten Following Week Two
Another week of college football in the books but it did bring us one major upset. Notre Dame fell victim to the biggest upset of the year so far after losing to Northern Illinois at home.
Last week I had Notre Dame at No. 10 on my list, well below the AP noting the win over Texas A&M wasn’t all that impressive given A&M isn’t very good. The Irish fell to No. 18 in the AP poll this week following the loss.

Oregon meanwhile dropped again. I do think we’ll learn that Boise State is a pretty good football team. And it’s clear Ashton Jeanty is one of the best running backs in the country. That team should win a lot of games this season and compete for a playoff spot.
There aren’t many changes in my top ten this week but I did move some things around a bit. Here they are.
- Georgia – No reason to change anything here. But I will say this, the margin between No. 1 and No. 2 might be closer than I originally thought.
- Texas – This week I moved Texas ahead of Ohio State. Sark has his team rolling and looking like a dominant team. Neutral field, I think Texas beats Ohio State today and gives Georgia a run for its money.
- Ohio State – Still not rolling on offense. Ohio State is actually in danger with me of dropping down another spot below Ole Miss.
- Ole Miss – This is the best team nobody is talking about. Jaxson Dart is dealing and Lane Kiffin has himself a bone-a-fide contender this year.
- Alabama – Jalen Milroe is going to continue to give Kalen Deboer fits. He’s not very good. Bama is beatable by anyone in the top ten today.
- Tennessee – I wanted to move Tennessee ahead of Bama and I probably should. The Vols are solid and Nico is going to be a Heisman contender if he continues.
- Miami – Mario has his team moving the right direction. With Oregon struggling to beat Boise, I moved them ahead this week.
- Oregon – Gotta keep winning and you’ll climb the list. But Oregon should be 8 or 9 in the polls.
- USC – It pains me to say this, but Oregon might not beat USC the way they are playing today. Give Lincoln Riley credit for closing the gap as he has done.
- Utah/Missouri – I probably should have Missouri here if Cam Rising is going to miss time for Utah. They won but struggled once he left the game on Saturday. Mizzou is tough.
