Well this week I only have a couple of small changes to the list. Sorry to bore you but my lists have been pretty consistent this year.

Chokelahoma sees themselves out of my top ten after last week saying I didn’t love the Sooners and the direction they were headed. So we have a new No. 10 this week replacing the Sooners. I also made a couple small moves in my top ten so let’s take a look.

Week 9 Rankings

  1. Georgia – The most complete team in the country is Georgia. The next most complete team in the country, Oregon. The Dawgs get Ole Miss this week and that could get interesting. I don’t think Ole Miss beats them unless they sell out and get creative. But Georgia is the No. 1 team and any rankings that have someone else here are just wrong.
  2. Florida State – The Noles quietly just don’t get the respect they should. They have athletes on both sides of the ball and an explosive offense. Are they complete? Not quite, but still pretty good across the board. Like I’ve said for weeks now, they have a clear path to a playoff with an easy schedule and a chance to put one on Mario this week.
  3. Washington – My first big shakeup. I am moving the Huskies ahead of Michigan. I continue to wonder when the Wolverines will play anyone with a pulse. Meanwhile UW keeps handling business with one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Does Utah have the answer this week? That one will be VERY interesting.
  4. Oregon – Sorry Michigan, Oregon would beat you even in Ann Arbor. I just don’t see it and I am bucking the rules. So Oregon moves ahead of Michigan this week. Bring on the Trojans and a big win here really cements Oregon’s status.
  5. Michigan – They get Penn State this week but as you can see, I don’t have Penn State in my top ten. I’m not buying it. So another win on name alone for the Wolverines who await the Buckeyes for its first and only test this season.
  6. Alabama – Don’t look now, but Bama is doing what I said they would. Get better. And Milroe is really settling in and making that offense very dynamic. I probably should have Bama ahead of Michigan, because they would beat them today. But I can do that soon enough. The Tide get to feast on Kentucky this week.
  7. Ohio State – I know, the rules say they should be in the top four because they are undefeated. They aren’t that good. Resilient, solid, yes. I just don’t know that Ohio State can beat anyone ahead of them save Michigan. They get to beat up on Michigan State this week.
  8. Ole Miss – Yes they lost, to Bama. But I still think Ole Miss can beat Texas and they might be better than Ohio State and Michigan too. So they get 8 for now and if they lose to Georgia this week but keep it respectable, they could hang around in the top ten still.
  9. Texas – The second easiest schedule on this list belongs to Texas. They really tried to let K-State win last week but that happens on occasion. Still Texas is trending the wrong direction and could be headed towards ten or beyond if they don’t figure it out. Do no struggle against TCU this week.
  10. Oregon State – If you aren’t paying attention, the Beavs just keep winning. Quality wins over Utah and UCLA are the best marks on their resume. I know they lost to Arizona last week, but they are good and we all know how tough it is to play in the desert. I like OSU best of the 2-loss teams that are all fighting for the 10-20 spots. But you could make an argument for all of them if you want to. Beavs got Stanford this week.
