Jordan James Carries Ducks to 16-13 Win over Wisconsin
The undefeated No.1-ranked Oregon Ducks made the trek to Madison, WI today to take on a new Big Ten Conference foe in the Wisconsin Badgers. Coach Luke Fickell‘s outfit held a 5-4 record entering the contest and fell to 5-5 following the low-scoring slugfest.
Below is a quarter-by-quarter recap of Oregon vs Wisconsin, hitting on the biggest moments and plays from the game.
First Quarter
A solid first drive for Oregon with a mix of catches from wide receiver Evan Stewart and strong runs from running back Jordan James got the Ducks on the board for a field goal with 9:43 left in the first. A big screen play to tight end Terrance Ferguson got Oregon into the red zone before quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw a drag route behind receiver Justius Lowe that led to an interception for the Badgers.
On the following drive, the Ducks picked their way down the field into kicker Atticus Sappington‘s range where he nailed a 42-yard field goal that made it 6-0 to end the first quarter.
Second Quarter
A series of penalties against Oregon’s defense led to a mid-range field goal from Badgers’ kicker Nathaniel Vakos that made it 6-3, good for a sluggish offensive start on both sides. An explosive pass down the left sideline from Wisconsin quarterback Braedyn Locke put the Badgers in range for a screen pass touchdown that made it 10-6 for the home team entering half.

Third Quarter
A grinding 17-play drive to start the second half got Wisconsin another field goal, making it 13-6 Badgers around halfway through the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Needing an answer, a series of short passes and runs as well as a long fourth down conversion to Ferguson set up a touchdown run by James off the right edge to tie the contest at 13. After a couple of stalled drives both ways, Oregon was able to grind its way down the field largely on James’ legs again and converted a short field goal to give it its first lead since the second quarter with 2:36 remaining in the game.
A desperate two-minute drive for the Badgers ended in a batted ball interception for edge rusher Matayo Uiagalelei that iced the contest at 16-13. Next up for coach Dan Lanning‘s Oregon squad is a much-needed bye before a home matchup against the rival Washington Huskies at Autzen Stadium, the final regular season game of the year.
