Jordan James, Tez Johnson, Evan Stewart Recap Ohio State
Three of Oregon’s best offensive players were available to media Saturday following the Ducks’ phenomenal 32-31 win over the visiting Ohio State Buckeyes. Below are the best questions and quotes from their presser as well as my thoughts at the end.
Evan Stewart on maintaining composure in a big game:
“Honestly we’re so connected that we have a big saying that everyone’s just waiting for their turn and doing their job. Things will pan out so that’s all I was doing.”
Jordan James on the offensive line’s improvement:
“Whatever you see in my stats is just a reflection of them and how they play so they had a good game today and I think that’s a testament to what we’ve been doing in practice and it shows on the field.”
Tez Johnson on emotions during Ohio State’s last drive:
“Obviously they’re a good offense and they’re not No. 2 for no reason so I feel like our defensive backs stepped up to the challenge. Look at Brandon Johnson, Nikko Reed, Jabbar Muhammad, Kobe Savage. Kudos to the defense.”
James on his running style:
“I feel like I’ve always had that mentality. I’m trying to be the most physical person on the field at all times and that’s really where it comes from.”
Stewart on his decision to transfer to Oregon:
“I was really just trying to play my role because at (Texas) A&M we never got to win as much so I was really just going into the season not trying to step on toes but I wanted to come in and contribute so when I have nights like this it makes me feel good.”
Johnson on the crowd’s impact on the game:
“It was as loud as I’ve ever heard Autzen. They contributed well, like I don’t know how loud it was but you couldn’t hear the person next to you. It was packed before we even got out there for stretching.”

Stewart on Justius Lowe‘s contributions:
“We already knew J Lowe was going to step up if his number was called but we felt some type of way when Traeshon went down.”
Linden’s Take
These three made up the crux of Oregon’s attack as they were almost indisputably the most effective players on the Ducks’ offense outside of quarterback Dillon Gabriel. James’ explanation on his physical style definitely checks out as he rarely shies away from contact or goes down easily.
It was good to see Stewart take the leap he’s been looking for all year and it couldn’t have come at a better time. One has to wonder if these plays were, in some respects, saved up for this game as he’d been productive previously but not nearly to the extent he was yesterday.
I always think Johnson is a good interview and he showed why again. He gave insightful answers and demonstrated leadership at the podium that can only really be expected of a senior.
