The start of the 2023 season is just 94 days away for the Oregon Ducks.

As we near the start of Dan Lanning’s second season at the helm of the program, details have emerged regarding Oregon’s 2023 schedule.

On Wednesday, kickoff times were announced for the Ducks’ first three games of the season — as well as their rivalry showdown with Oregon State.

Oregon vs. Portland State: Sept. 2 at 12 p.m. PT (Pac-12 Network)
Oregon at Texas Tech: Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. PT (FOX)
Oregon vs. Hawaii: Sept. 16 at 5 p.m. PT (Pac-12 Network)
Oregon vs. Oregon State: Nov. 24 at 5:30 p.m. PT (Fox)

During Lanning’s season as Oregon’s head coach, the Ducks went 10-3 and capped off their season with a 28-27 win over North Carolina in the Holiday Bowl.

Offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham helped the Ducks become one of the more dynamic offenses in all of college football. However, he departed the program in November after accepting the head coaching job at Arizona State.

In turn, the Ducks hired former UTSA OC Will Stein to the same position. The Ducks also added Chris Hampton (co-DC/safeties coach) and A’lique Terry (offensive line) to on-field coaching positions.

A deep dive into what Ducks gained, lost in transfer portal

Few programs in college football experienced a greater amount of transfer portal activity than Oregon has over the past six months.

A total of 30 UO scholarship players entered the portal during the previous two transfer windows — 21 in the winter and nine in the spring. Meanwhile, the Ducks added 14 scholarship players during that same period.

Oregon has lost more than twice as many players as it has added since the end of the 2022 regular season. Of course, the sheer number of incoming and outgoing players doesn’t necessarily tell the whole story of the Ducks’ roster transformation.

In terms of offensive and defensive snaps played per season during the 2021 and 2022 campaigns, the players who joined the Ducks during the offseason saw a far greater share of playing time at their respective previous schools than the players who departed Oregon saw during their respective UO careers.

Here’s a breakdown of the snap counts played by each of the Ducks’ additions and departures in 2021 and 2022.
