Oregon safety transfer Kobe Savage spent time with the media on Thursday. The K-State transfer talked about his decision to come to Oregon amongst other topics.

One of the keys from the interview was Savage talking about his role in the defense and where he fits in currently. As usual you can read the top comments below or watch the full video at the bottom.

On the Decision to Transfer:

“Really just wanted to put myself in a good position for the draft next year. Obviously K State is a great school, they play a lot of great ball, great defense. But I just wanted to get out of a 3-3-5 system, I find myself as more of a true safety in a 4-2-5. I can showcase my skills in the box, in the field and also as a nickel.”

On His Position:

“I’m anything the team is looking for. I bring a lot of versatility to the table. I can come down in the box and hit. I can play a lot of man coverage and I can play a true post.”

On Other Standouts:

“Tysheem, Aaron Flowers, Kingston Lopa, Zach Gresham, Collin Gil, all those guys are competitive guys. There’s no true starters right now. Aaron Flowers is really smart. These guys are instinctive.”

On Being in One Room:

“It’s pretty cool. It takes a little longer to get through a meeting but he obviously hits all the key points for the positions and all of us are learning the different positions.”
