Oregon Forward Kwame Evans Jr. Announces Return for Sophomore Season
Tuesday morning brought more big news for Dana Altman and the Oregon Ducks Men’s basketball team. Less than 24 hours after securing a commitment from former Stanford power forward Brandon Angel, power forward Kwame Evans Jr. announced that he will be returning to Oregon for his sophomore season.
He shared the news over social media.
“Round 2 #scoducks,” Evans wrote in his post.
Evans made a strong impact during his first season in Eugene. He started 29 of the 35 games he played in while averaging 7. 3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. The 6-foot-9 forward shot 44.7% from the floor and 26% from three-point range.

Prior to enrolling at Oregon Evans signed with the Ducks as a four-star recruit that ranked No. 18 nationally and the No.2 power forward in the class out 2023 from Montverde Academy in Florida. He was one of three recruits Dana Altman and the Ducks added, along with fellow forward Mookie Cook and Jackson Shelstad.
The 2024 season is shaping up to be an exciting one for head coach Dana Altman and the Ducks after a strong close to the year lead them to an NCAA Tournament appearance. Ahead of the team’s first year in the Big Ten conference, they’re getting more firepower back on their roster and they welcomed back former assistant Tony Stubblefield to the coaching staff.
