With fall camp just around the corner, Oregon is holding its annual media day Monday afternoon in Eugene. Dan Lanning is set to meet with reporters for a press conference at approximately noon PT.

Afterward, players will be available to speak with reporters in groups.

– Lanning says Oregon spent the offseason focused on going “from good to great” and adopted that motto throughout the summer.

– Lanning on singing a contract extension: “Since the day I’ve been here, it’s no secret I want to be here.

– When asked about his long-term commitment to Eugene, Lanning re-iterated that “the grass isn’t always greener” and said Oregon has everything he and his staff needs to be successful.

-Lanning: “It’s not fair when a university makes a commitment to a coach but a coach doesn’t make a commitment to a university. I want to be here.”

-Lanning on receiver Traeshon Holden: What I’m excited about with Traeshon is he’s got great size, great catch radius, he’s picking up our system well.”

– Lanning said he’s eager to see Oregon’s large group of newcomers take the field this week. “It’s great on paper, but what’s it look like on the field?”

– Lanning on the value of running backs and the future of running backs at the college level: “At the end of the day, that probably starts in little league — You wanna score touchdowns. … You play for the love of the game. … We’re lucky here, we have a lot of great running backs who love the game.”

– Lanning on 5-star 2023 signee Jurrion Dickey: “He’s a talented player. … His film was great in high school. We want to see it carry over to the college level. He’s got some work to do.”

– Lanning on how he envisions the offense under OC Will Stein: “We’re going to have some of those same traits, we’re still going to be great running the ball. We’re going to push the ball down the field; we have a great quarterback and we’re going to lean on him.”

– Lanning on TE Terrance Feguson’s injury: “He’s certainly looked good this summer and is tracking in the right direction.”

-Lanning confirmed that sophomore safety JJ Greenfield has left the Oregon program.

– Lanning was asked what the departure of Colorado to the Big-12 means for the Pac-12 as a whole: “Trying to remember what they won in this conference.”
