Live updates: Oregon baseball vs. No. 11 Gonzaga
Tuesday marks the beginning of a massive four-game stretch for the Oregon baseball program.
The Ducks (31-21, 15-12 Pac-12) have four games remaining in the regular season and have a massive chance to boost their resume this evening against No. 11-ranked Gonzaga.
Oregon beat the Zags (32-13, 18-6 WCC) earlier this season in Spokane and will be looking for a season sweep over one of the top teams in the nation.

First inning
T1 — Oregon starter Christian Ciuffetelli produces three pop-ups and works around a two-out walk to finish a scoreless top of the first.
B1 — Tanner Smith led off the game with an infield single for the Ducks, then advanced to second on a wild pitch. He later took third on Drew Cowley’s single, and then scored on a balk while attempting to steal home to give Oregon a 1-0 lead.
On the next pitch, Josh Kasevich launched a two-run homer to push Oregon’s lead to 3-0.
Second inning
T2 — Ciuffetelli is replaced by Stone Churby to start the frame, as he is slated to start Oregon’s Thursday night matchup with Arizona. Churby yielded a one-out walk, a double, and then an RBI groundout to Kramer that cut Oregon’s lead to 3-1.
B2 — Oregon’s 7-8-9 hitters are retired in order.
Third inning
T3 — Caleb Sloan came on in relief in the third and struggled early, but worked his way out of a jam to escape the inning scoreless.
B3 — Oregon’s 1-2-3 hitters were retired in order.
Fourth inning
T4 — Sloan retired Gonzaga’s 6-7-8 hitters in order.
B4 — Oregon’s 4-5-6 hitters — Drew Cowley, Josh Kasevich, and Anthony Hall — were retired in order. Oregon’s lead remains 3-1.
Fifth inning
T5 — Logan Mercado comes on in relief for the Ducks. Sloan’s final line was: one hit, one walk, and one strikeout in two innings of work.
Mercado gave up a pair of two-out singles, and then threw a wild pitch that allowed a runner to advance to third. But he got Gonzaga cleanup hitter Cade McGee to fly out to center with runners on the corners to end the threat and protect Oregon’s 3-1 lead.
B5 — Gavin Grant drew a two-out walk, becoming the first Duck to reach base since the first inning. But Tanner Smith struck out to end the inning.
Sixth inning
T6 — Logan Mercado delivered another solid inning for the Ducks and worked around a leadoff single to retire the next three batters.
B6 — Nico Zeglin is on in relief for Gonzaga, He replaces Bradley Mullan, who finished with a final line of three hits, three runs, one walk, and six strikeouts over 5.0 innings.
Zeglin retired Colby Shade and Brennan Milone before surrendering a shift-beating single to Drew Cowley. However, Cowley was thrown out attempting to steal second to end the inning.

Seventh inning
T7 — Rio Britton came on in relief for the Ducks and surrendered a leadoff single to Gonzaga No. 9 hitter Ezra Samperi. Britton retired the next two batters but was then replaced by right-hander Matt Dallas, who got Gonzaga’s No. 3 hitter, Tyler Rando, to fly out and end the inning.
B7 — Oregon catcher Bennet Thompson reached first on an error with two outs, but the Ducks could not take advantage.
Eighth inning
T8 — Jack Scanlon enters the game at catcher for the Ducks, replacing Bryce Boettcher, who pinch ran for Bennett Thompson in the seventh.
Matt Dallas stayed on the mound for the Ducks in the eighth and allowed a one-out single and then hit a Gonzaga batter with a pitch to put runners on first and second. He got Dylan Johnson to line out to shortstop for the second out but then surrendered a three-run homer to Shea Kramer to give Gonzaga a 4-3 lead.
B8 — Tanner Smith lined a one-out single and then stole second to put the potential tying run in scoring position. Colby Shade followed with a single, and Brennan Milone lifted a sac-fly to right to advance Smith to third.
However, Drew Cowley struck out swinging to end the inning.
T9 — Dylan Sabia came on in relief for the Ducks and delivered a scoreless frame to keep Gonzaga’s lead at 4-3.
B9 — Josh Kasevich reached on an error to lead off the inning. Tyler Ganus, who replaced Anthony Hall earlier in the game, came to the plate and executed a perfect sac-bunt to move Kasevich to second with one out.
Sam Novitske then pinch-hit for Jack Scanlon and drew a walk.
Jacob Walsh stepped to the plate and crushed a two-run double to right field to win the game for the Ducks.
