After a disastrous start to its final series of the regular season, Oregon will look to get back on track on Thursday morning in Salt Lake City.

The Ducks (31-20, 14-14 Pac-12) were trounced 12-5 by last-place Utah (22-30-1, 9-18-1) in Thursday’s opener.

As Oregon looks to break out of its five-game losing streak, freshman right-hander Turner Spoljaric will get the starting nod for the Ducks Thursday at 10:05 a.m. PT.

Ninth inning

Oregon reliever Ian Umlandt stayed on in the ninth inning and retired the Utes without surrendering a run to close out the ball game.

Bennett Thompson cracked his second double of the day to plate another run and push Oregon’s lead to 9-1.

Eighth inning

Utah got a run back on Roberts’ single to left, but the play was reviewed and the run was taken off the board.

Gavin Grant cracked a run-scoring double to push Oregon’s lead to 8-1.

Seventh inning

Utah got its first run of the day with a run-scoring double from Jackson Kiernan. But Spoljaric avoided further damage and got through the seventh inning.

Colby Shade reached first after striking out and then reaching on a wild pitch. He then advanced to second on another wild pitch, moved to third on a sac fly, and later scored on another wild pitch to push Oregon’s lead to 6-0.

Sixth inning

Spoljaric stayed on in the sixth inning and produced another scoreless inning to hold the Ducks’ lead at 5-0.

This marks the longest outing of Spoljaric’s Oregon career.

Turner Spoljaric worked his way out of a bases-loaded jam to hold Oregon’s lead at 5-0.

Oregon starter Turner Spoljaric stranded a pair of runners to escape a first-inning jam and hold the score at 2-0.

Drew Cowley continued his recent hot streak for the Ducks and cracked an RBI double to open the scoring. Two batters later, Tanner Smith followed with a hustle double to make it 2-0.
