After a thrilling comeback win on Friday, the Oregon Ducks are one win away from their first College World Series trip in modern program history.

The Ducks (41-20) and Oral Roberts (49-12) are set to square off in the second game of the Eugene Super Regional Saturday evening at PK Park.

Oregon, after trailing by eight runs at one point Friday, scored nine unanswered runs and won on Drew Cowley’s walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.

Now, the Ducks will look to wrap up the series Saturday evening and clinch their first trip to Omaha since 1954.

Ninth Inning

Oregon closer Josh Mollerus came on for the Ducks in the ninth and produced a pop-up for the first out. Jacob Godman followed with a one-out single to put the tying run aboard, and Blaze Brothers followed with a single of his own to put the tying run in scoring position.

Jake McMurray followed with a walk to load the bases.

Then, Justin Quinn laced a walk-off two-run single down the left field line to win the game.

Cade Denton stranded a pair of runners to hold Oregon’s lead to one.

Eighth Inning

B8

Josiah Cox crushed a leadoff homer to cut Oregon’s lead to 7-6. But Matt Dallas avoided further damage.

Oregon’s 8-9-1 hitters were retired in order.

Seventh Inning

B7

Matt Dallas replaced Austin Anderson on the mound and surrendered an RBI double to Jake McMurray that cut Oregon’s lead to 7-5.

Then, he got Justin Quinn to ground out to first to end the inning.

Tanner Smith’s two-out double gave the Ducks two runners in scoring position.

Drew Smith followed with a towering flyball to the warning track and ORU center fielder Jonah Cox camped under it. But he bobbled the catch and dropped the ball, resulting in a two-run triple that gave Oregon a 7-4 lead.

Sixth Inning

Anderson produced another scoreless inning by retiring ORU’s 4-5-6 hitters in order.

With one on and two outs, Oral Roberts called on All-American closer Cade Denton to get the final out of the inning. He was greeted with a single by Gavin Grant, but then got Rikuu Nishida to fly out and end the inning.

Fifth Inning

B5

Right-hander Austin Anderson came on in relief and worked around a one-out single to produce a scoreless frame. He ended the inning by striking out Jonah Cox.

Rikuu Nishida drew a one-out walk, and Bryce Boettcher laid down a sac bunt to move him to second. Drew Cowley followed with an RBI single to tie it at 4-4.

Then, Sabin Ceballos crushed a double to the left field gap to give the Ducks a 5-4 lead.

Fourth Inning

B4

Oral Roberts loaded the bases with back-to-back singles and a hit-by-pitch with nobody out. Umlandt induced a 6-4-3 double play for the first and second outs of the inning, but the Golden Eagles took a 4-3 lead on the play.

The next batter, Blaze Brothers, struck out swinging to end the inning.

T4

Drew Cowley was hit by a pitch to lead off the fourth. Sabin Ceballos followed with his 17th home run of the year to tie the game at 3-3.

The next batter, Tanner Smith, hit a comebacker at Gollert that deflected off his glove and resulted ina single.

Third Inning

B3

Freshman lefty Ian Umlandt replaced Spoljaric to start the third inning and worked around a leadoff single to retire the side. Ulandt got ORU No. 3 hitter Jonah Cox to ground into a 5-4-3 double play.

T3

Gollert struck out the side and got Gavin Grant, Rikuu Nishida, and Bryce Boettcher all swinging for the final strike.

Second Inning

B2

Spoljaric walked the bases loaded, and David Stahl poked a two-run single through the left side to give Oral Roberts a 2-1 lead.

Two batters later, Blaze Brothers made it 3-1 with a single to center.

Oregon’s Jacob Walsh launched a towering solo homer to right-center field to give the Ducks an early 1-0 lead.

First Inning

Oregon starter Turner Spoljaric retired Jake McMurray, Justin Quinn, and Jonah Cox on just nine pitches.

Oral Roberts starter Harley Gollert retired Rikuu Nishida, Bryce Boettcher, and Drew Cowley in order.

Pregame

The Ducks will once again be without all-conference center fielder Colby Shade, who is dealing with a wrist injury and is not in the lineup for the third straight game.
