Live updates: Oregon vs. Stanford at the Pac-12 Tournament

The Oregon baseball team will look to bolster its postseason against the Pac-12’s top team.

The Ducks (34-20, 16-14 Pac-12) will face Stanford (38-14, 23-7) at the conference tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Oregon opened tournament play on Tuesday with a 3-2 win over Cal.

Against the Cardinal, the Ducks will turn to right-handed starter Turner Spoljaric.

Tenth Inning

Mollerus stayed on in the 10th inning and surrendered a leadoff single to Eddie Park.

But he bounced back by striking out Tommy Troy and Carter Graham. Then, he got two quick strikes on cleanup hitter Braden Montgomery but hit him with an inside fastball on the third pitch.

Alberto Rios, the Pac-12 Player of the Year, stepped to the plate as the tying run. But Mollerus got him to fly out and end the game.

Sabin Ceballos led off extras with a massive solo homer to left-center field, giving Oregon a 7-6 lead.

Later in the inning, three consecutive Ducks drew two-out walks to load the bases. Walsh scored from third on a wild pitch before Nishida grounded out to end the inning.

Ninth Inning

Alberto Rios drew a leadoff walk, and Jake Sapien hit a one-out single two batters later. Both players then advanced on a wild pitch to put the winning run on third base.

But Mollerus forced Owen Cobb to groundout and end the inning.

Bennett Thompson cracked a leadoff double and was then replaced by pinch-runner Tyler Ganus, who advanced to third on Gavin Grant’s sacrifice fly.

Rikuu Nishida followed with another sacrifice fly to plate Ganus and cut the Stanford lead to 6-5.

Colby Shade stepped to the plate and ripped a two-out double down the right-field line, then tried to stretch it into a triple. The relay throw from Bowser went sailing into the stands, and Shade advanced home, tying the game at 6-6.

Drew Cowley grounded out to end the inning.

Eighth Inning

With one out and a runner on second, Oregon closer Josh Mollerus replaced Dylan McShane on the mound to face Stanford leadoff man Eddie Park. Mollerus walked Park, struck out Tommy Troy for the second out of the inning, and then intentionally walked Carter Graham.

With Braden Montgomery at the plate, Mollerus came through with a pivotal strikeout to escape the bases-loaded jam.

Tanner Smith battled with a 1-2 count and ripped an RBI single to cut the Stanford lead to 6-4. The next batter Drew Smith, also singled, bringing Jacob Walsh to the plate as the go-ahead run.

But Stanford reliever Nick Dugan battled Walsh for seven pitches before striking him out looking with a breaking ball to end the inning.

Seventh Inning

Carter Graham crushed a leadoff double off Ducks’ reliever Austin Anderson. Two batters later, Oregon opted to intentionally walk Pac-12 Player of the Year Alberto Rios, giving the Cardinal two on with one out.

But Anderson struck out Malcolm Moore and then got Drew Bowster to ground out to second to end the threat.

Bennett Thompson collected his third hit of the night — a one-out single. But the Ducks weren’t able to take advantage and produced another scoreless frame.

Sixth Inning

Mercado issued back-to-back one-out walks, and Angier went to the bullpen once again.

Right-hander Austin Anderson replaced Mercado and induced an inning-ending double play to escape the jam.

It was nothing doing for the Ducks, as their 4-5-6 hitters were retired in order.

Fifth Inning

Mercado worked around a one-out double from Alberto Rios to hold the Cardinal scoreless.

Bennett Thompson reached on a leadoff single through the right side, then scored on a Rikuu Nishida single to cut the Stanford lead to 6-3.

Fourth Inning

Mercado produced another strong inning, retiring Stanford’s 1-2-3 hitters in order.

Drew Smith cracked a single to extend his hitting streak to 17 games. But he was the only Oregon player to reach base in the fourth.

Third Inning

Mercado retired Stanford’s 7-8-9 hitters in order.

Oregon’s 1-2-3 hitters were retired in order.

Second Inning

Stanford’s first two batters of the second inning ambushed Spoljaric for a single and a double. After that, Angier opted to turn to Logan Mercado out of the bullpen. But the next two batters, Tommy Troy and Carter Graham, each drove home runs to make it 6-2 before the inning ended.

Jacob Walsh cut the Stanford lead to 4-1 with an RBI single to plate Tanner Smith. Then, Bennett Thompson cracked an RBI double to score Walsh and make it 4-2.

First Inning

B1

Stanford raced out to a 2-0 lead when Carter Graham lifted a two-run homer to left.

Alberto Rios followed with a run-scoring double two batters later, then Malcolm Moore added a run-scoring double of his own to make it 4-0.

After a visit from pitching coach Jake Angier, Spoljaric buckled down and got two quick outs to end the inning.

Oregon was retired in order in the top of the first.
