Oregon tops Washington 12-7, secures trip to Pac-12 Tournament Championship
After a thrilling comeback win over Stanford on Thursday, Oregon will face off with Washington in the Pac-12 Tournament semifinals Thursday in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Ducks topped the No. 1-seeded Cardinal, 8-6, and now will look to further solidify their postseason resume against the No. 3-seed Huskies.

Ninth Inning

Matt Dallas replaced Grinsell on the mound for Oregon and produced three quick outs to close out the game and send the Ducks to the Pac-12 Championship Game.

Gavin Grant legged out a hustle double and then came around to score on Colby Shade’s single through the right side, extending Oregon’s lead to 12-7.
Eighth Inning

Grinsell produced another 1-2-3 inning to hold Washington in check.

Grinsell encountered some trouble when Washington put two runners on with two outs.
But he struck out Washington leadoff man Cam Clayton to escape the jam.

Reliever Grayson Grinsell bounced back after a leadoff walk and struck out Washington’s 3-4-5 hitters to produce a scoreless inning.

Bennett Thompson reached on a hustle double but was left stranded.
Fifth Inning

Washington got a pair of runs back by way of a Michael Snyder RBI single and a Cam Clayton sacrifice fly.
But Washington’s Sam Decarlo ran the Huskies out of the inning when he attempted to tag up from first on Clayton’s deep fly ball and was thrown out at second.

Drew Smith came through with his second big hit of the day — this time, a run-scoring triple to deep center to plate Tanner Smith.
Drew Smith later scored on Bennett Thompson’s sacrifice fly to make it 8-5, Oregon. Then, Gavin Grant, Rikuu Nishida, Colby Shadand Drew Cowley laced three consecutive singles to add another run.
With the bases loaded, Sabin Ceballos stepped to the plate and ripped another single to push the Ducks’ lead to 11-5.
Fourth Inning

Oregon reliever Ian Umlandt produced two quick outs. But Will Simpson and Colby Morales responded with back-to-back singles to give UW runners in the corners.

The Ducks turned to the bullpen once against and replaced Umlandt with Dylan McShane, who produced a towering pop-up to end the inning.

Washington scored five runs — all with two outs — to climb back into the game.
Colby Morales lifted a three-run homer, and Jeter Ybarra and Michael Snyder each had RBI singles.

Grabmann produced another strong frame and worked around a two-out single to hold the Huskies scoreless.

Oregon nearly struck again after Rikuu Nishida’s double down the right-field line sent Gavin Grant home from third. But Grant was thrown out at home after a well-executed Washington relay.
However, the Ducks increased their lead later in the inning when Drew Cowley cracked an RBI single to make it 4-0.
The next batter, Sabin Ceballos, launched a two-run homer to make it 6-0.

Oregon freshman starter Matthew Grabmann was sharp early and retired UW in order. He struck out the final two batters of the inning.
