2025 Zephyrhills (Fla.) cornerback DJ Pickett is nearly ready to come off the board. On Wednesday, the No.1 cornerback in the On3 rankings set a decision date for July 17, according to Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons.

Pickett will make his college decision from an unofficial top group that includes the LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Oregon Ducks and Georgia Bulldogs.

The 6-foot-4, cornerback took official visits to each school and was previously planning to announce his college commitment during his team’s bye week in October.

Pickett spoke with ScoopDuck at the On3 Elite Series in Nashville last month and spoke glowingly about the Ducks despite them being on the other side of the country.

“It’s just the people that’s around the building,” Pickett said. “They have the resources to make me successful on and off the field. Somewhere that I know I can come in and compete and just go in there and work. Less distractions. The people that they have on the team, they’re ready to work.

**Relationships at Oregon key for 5-star CB DJ Pickett**

Dan Lanning and the Ducks received most recent official visit during the June 21 weekend.

Oregon has gone on a bit of a recruiting run at defensive back in the last week, reeling in commitments from 5-star Conroe (Tex.) cornerback Dorian Brew and Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh defensive back Brandon Finney. Brew is the highest-rated cornerback commitment in Oregon program history, a title that previously belonged to veteran DB Dontae Manning.

Oregon has had a cornerback selected in each of the last two NFL Drafts with Christian Gonzalez being taken by the New England Patriots in the first round and Khyree Jackson landing with the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round.
