New York Liberty select Oregon's Nyara Sabally with fifth pick of WNBA Draft

Nyara Sabally is headed to New York to begin her WNBA career.
With the fifth overall pick of Monday’s WNBA Draft, the New York Liberty selected Sabally and thus have reunited her with a former Oregon teammate.
Sabally will join former Duck superstar Sabrina Ionescu in New York and add to the nucleus of a bright young roster.
A redshirt junior from Berlin, Germany, Sabally averaged 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game with the Ducks while earning all-Pac-12 honors in each of her two seasons n Eugene.
She led the Ducks with 15.4 points and 7.8 rebounds in 2021-22, and was one of the more dominant players in the nation when healthy. Injuries hindered Sabally during her time in Eugene, and she was sidelined for the first month of her junior season.
