Nishad Strother talks Offensive Line struggles
Former East Carolina transfer guard Nishad Strother spoke with the media today on the offensive line’s struggles, the rotations, and how they are looking to improve. Strother is in his second season with the Ducks and saw a good amount of playing time this past week, and will likely see the field more this week.
On what he can improve:
“Probably balance, I was leaning a lot in the run game and the pass game.”
On what changes between the right and left side:
“I would say I’m more comfortable playing left, I played left at ECU, so I’ve got a lot more experience at that position.”
On how the rotation worked Saturday:
“Well, it keeps you fresh, but sometimes your rhythm gets thrown off a little bit, but there’s a positive and negative to it.”
On how meetings with the OL room have gone:
“Everyone in that room is still hungry, everyone wants to play, and everyone has that goal to play. I hope everyone in the room gets a chance, everyone’s going to keep working hard. Nobody in the room is getting comfortable with their spot, there’s a lot of stuff changing. Just put your best foot forward everyday and then we’ll see what happens.”
On how often the OL is rotating in practice:
“We rotate a lot, everybody plays with each other and then we finalize the lineup towards the end of the week. Whoever has been executing the best (that week in practice) is going to play.”

On what the issues of the OL are:
“I think we need to mature a little bit as a whole… Finding new leaders, figuring out how Dillon wants things, how we’re going to operate as a group now, and some things need to be figured out, but we’re definitely headed in the right direction.”
On the mindset of the OL:
“We understand there are some things we need to improve on, but as far as being frustrated, not at all. We know what we’re capable of, so there’s no frustration at all.”
On Oregon State’s DL:
“Big up front but they also have some smaller quick guys as well. We need to be prepared for everything, bull rushes, finesse moves, all that.”
On if he has ever played center:
“Coach (A’lique) Terry makes everybody snap before every practice, because you never know what’s going to happen. I’ve never taken live reps, but if he needs me I’m here.”
