Oregon defeats Purdue 35-0 to stay perfect on the year. Here’s how the game went.

First Half

Oregon’s first drive was dominant, with a 7 play 75 yard drive resulting in an 8 yard TD run from Jordan James. The drive included a 49 yard pass from Dillon Gabriel to Evan Stewart that was on the money from Gabriel. On the same play, Stewart was interfered with and Oregon declined the penalty.

Oregon forced a quick 5 play drive and eventual punt when Purdue had the ball and all of Purdue’s 5 drives resulted in a punt or a turnover.

On the Ducks second drive, they would take 11 plays and find paydirt again resulting in Jordan James second TD of the game and second of the first quarter. On it’s third drive Oregon threw a 12 yard pass to Tez Johnson and he ran it into the endzone for another touchdown after review.

Purdue’s following drive resulted in a missed field goal in a questionable 4th down decision from Head Coach Ryan Walters. Purdue had a 4th & 4 from the Redzone and opted to try and make a 3 score game, a 3 score game.

The two teams would then trade punts before Oregon’s next drive resulted in a Dillon Gabriel interception. Then the ensuing drive Purdue would give it right back 3 plays later with a Jeff Bassa forced fumble. The first half ended with a Will Hedlt sack on Dillon Gabriel, the first sack Oregon had surrendered since week 2 against Boise State.

During the 1st half, Oregon saw Josh Conerly Jr get rolled up on, Derrick Harmon leave briefly, and Jabbar Muhammad exiting the game.

Second Half

The second half started with a turnover on downs for Purdue, followed by a missed field goal by Oregon. Purdue then turned the ball over on downs again with 2:30 left in the third quarter after a great pass breakup by Jabbar Muhammad.

Oregon’s second drive of the second half was more methodical. A 20 yard carry from Noah Whittington was a big piece of that. Dillon Gabriel also converted a 3rd down with a designed QB run to setup Oregon with a 1st & Goal. Whittington caught an 8 yard pass for a touchdown and then Oregon made the extra point to make it 28-0. Purdue’s following drive would be another punt, which led to a personal foul added on at the end.

Oregon’s third drive of the second half ended with the same result as the previous drive, finding the endzone. Jay Harris got a carry on the drive and true freshman Jeremiah McClellan caught a pass. Jay Harris ran for a touchdown from 12 yards out to make the game 35-0 after the extra point.

Oregon’s fourth drive was a 3 and out after trying to run the clock out. The ball went back Purdue who then threw a game-sealing interception to Kam Alexander. Oregon wins this one 35-0, no upset bid to be found.
