Oregon baseball completes series sweep of Washington
The No. 21 Oregon Ducks completed a pivotal sweep over Washington in Seattle on Saturday and did so in dramatic fashion.
Colby Shade singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the 11th inning to push the Ducks (24-11, 10-5) past the Huskies (16-18, 6-12) by a score of 6-5 at Husky Ballpark.
Oregon has now won five consecutive games, including a 7-5 win over Washington on Thursday, and an 8-6 win over the Huskies on Friday.
Shade went 3-for-5 for the Ducks and doubled, Sam Novitske went 1-for-4 with a two-RBI triple, and Brennen Milone and Tanner Smith each homered.
Oregon appeared to have taken the lead for good in the top of the 10th when Smith launched a leadoff homer to right field on the second pitch of the inning, giving the Ducks a 5-4 lead. But Johnny Tincher responded by taking Oregon closer Kolby Somers yard on the first pitch of the bottom of the 10th to tie it at 5-5.
With two outs in the 11th, though, Gavin Grant drew a walk, Smith singled, and Shade followed with the go-ahead hit.
