Oregon baseball broke out of its early-season slump in a major way Monday.

The Ducks delivered a 21-11 win in their series finale at San Diego that was ended after the eighth inning due to curfew. With the victory, they improved to 1-3 on the season.

After trailing by as many as five runs at one point, Oregon erupted for a monumental late-game rally. It entered the eighth inning trailing 11-9 and proceeded to send 16 batters to the plate and score 12 runs in a frame that lasted more than 50 minutes.

Those 12 runs were the most in a single inning in school history.

Josh Kasevich led the way for the Ducks with a 4-for-5, three-RBI performance that included a homer. Drew Cowley was 3-for-4 with a homer, a double, and four RBIs.

The eighth-inning offensive outpouring included homers from Josiah Cromwick and Jacob Walsh.

Freshman Tommy Brandenburg, making his first start of the year, tossed 3 1/3 innings and struck out one while surrendering four earned runs on five hits. The brightest pitching performance of the day for the Ducks came from lefty Rio Britton, who struck out three of the five batters he faced in the seventh.
