Oregon Boasts Top-Three Offense and Defense in EA Sports College Football Power Rankings
We’re officially less than a month away from the release of EA Sports College Football 25. The first college football video game is set to officially release on July 19.
It’s always fun when the hype builds and on Friday EA published its top-25 offensive and defensive power rankings ahead of the game’s release with the Oregon Ducks landing inside the top three for both sides of the ball.
Starting with the offense, EA slotted the Ducks at No. 2 with a 94 overall ranking, trailing only the Georgia Bulldogs, who were also rated 94 overall.
Oregon’s offense was one of the most explosive and effective units in the sport last year, but in 2024 the Ducks will move on from the two-year Bo Nix era and be without perhaps the best wide receiver in program history in Troy Franklin. They’ve both reunited in Denver and will suit up for the Broncos.
But Will Stein’s offense doesn’t plan to take a step back despite some key departures. The Oregon offensive coordinator went into the transfer portal and added former Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel to operate the offense and also got key additions in former Texas A&M wide receiver Evan Stewart, Northwest Missouri State running back Jay Harris and former Indiana interior offenisve lineman Matthew Bedford.
Another year with players like running backs Jordan James and Noah Whittington, tight ends Terrance Ferguson and Patrick Herbert and bookend tackles Josh Conerly Jr. and Ajani Cornelius should help Oregon put together one of the most dangerous offenses in college football.

Oregon’s defense was ranked No. 3 at 90 overall trailing only Georgia (94 overall) and Ohio State (96 overall) in the power rankings.
The Ducks lost a bulk of their defensive line to the NFL Draft and graduation, but the return of Jordan Burch and Matayo Uiagalalei paired with the additions of former Michigan State defensive tackle Derrick Harmon and former Houston lineman Jamaree Caldwell should keep Oregon both stout and athletic at the point of attack.
Jestin Jacobs and Jeffrey Bassa form one of the better linebacker duos with depth behind them. One of the areas with the most excitement for this unit has to be the secondary, which adds former Washington lockdown cornerback Jabbar Muhammad, former UTSA standout cornerback Kam Alexander to go along with former Kansas State safety Kobe Savage and Duke nickel transfer Brandon Johnson.
Notable returners include cornerbacks Jahlil Florence and Dontae Manning and Tysheem Johnson at safety.
