Oregon EDGE Teitum Tuioti: "Our room, all of us are ready."

Oregon EDGE Teitum Tuioti is one of the more experienced players left on Oregon’s roster. The Ducks will feature a ton of new faces on the defensive side of the ball and Tuioti is being counted on to lead some of those new faces.
On Thursday he met with media following Oregon’s second practice of the week and fourth practice of the Spring. Here are the main highlights from his interview.

On Being a Leader/Veteran:
“It’s cool. I think it comes with a lot of people looking up to me and others as well. I just think it comes with holding the standard. Something a leader needs to do. Me, Matayo and Bryce are just going to continue to lead these young guys with less experience on how it’s going to be on the field and on gameday.”
On Younger Guys:
“These guys, especially in the backend, the secondary, they are new but a lot of them are talented. They come from great high schools and they are highly recruited. I know a lot of people left our defense but I’m not worried about it. We have a lot of guys here that are hungry and ready to compete.”
On the EDGE Room:
“I think our room, all of us are ready. Obviously you guys haven’t seen too much of the younger guys but they are hungry and ready.”

On Defense’s ‘Standard’:
“Our defense like coach Lupoi says, is relentless effort. Ball excellence, we’re always trying to punch at the ball and get it. Lastly is the power of unit. When things get hard we just look to our left and our right and play for our brothers.”
On Dillon Thieneman:
“His preparation just every day coming in here, just go through his routine. He does the same thing every day. You don’t see him do many things wrong. I’m excited for what he’s going to do this year.”
On the Defense:
“Ever since I’ve been here our defense is complicated. There’s so many adjustments you have to take notes. Many of us have a couple notebooks. As we continue to go through the Spring we gonna keep taking notes.”
On Body Changes:
“I put on some weight, 10 more pounds. Around 265-270. I’m stronger. I know I gotta keep in shape too so that’s something I’ve got to work on.”
