Oregon finishes 2024 National Signing Day with top-ranked class in program history
By the time Dan Lanning took the podium at the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex to meet with local reporters on Wednesday, his Oregon 2024 signing class was already the best in school history.
Midway through Lanning’s presser, the Ducks’ 25th and final commit in the class, four-star linebacker Kamar Mothudi, officially inked his National Letter of Intent to cap off a historic day for the Oregon program.
The Ducks entered the day with 23 commits in their ’24 class and signed all 23 of them. They also flipped a pair of four-star receivers and added an impact transfer at safety for good measure.
As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oregon sat at No. 6 nationally in the On3 Industry Rankings with a score of 92.546. According to the 247 Composite, the Ducks’ class is the fifth-best in the nation with a score of 290.33.
That’s the highest score in program history.
“I just think it shows the staff and the program’s work that they’ve put forward and then the vision for the program and where we’re headed,” Lanning said when asked about the accomplishment. “Obviously, the best way to enhance your team is to enhance your talent. Then it goes into developing that talent. So when we have that and we’ve got a great, great chance to be successful here.”
For the second season in a row, Oregon made waves on National Signing Day by orchestrating multiple high-profile flips.

The Ducks signed four-star receiver Jeremiah McClellan, who was previously committed to Ohio State, and four-star receiver Ryan Pellum, who made a last-minute decision to flip from USC to Oregon.
“It’s just an everyday approach. And I think we’ve got a staff that’s been doing this for a while and recognizes it’s not about the short term. It’s about being able to do something every single day and focus on the long-term goals,” Lanning said when asked to detail the signing day events. “These guys that we’re going to get are guys that we think can really enhance what we’ve built and already established here. So having guys that are open to being in Oregon and realize what Oregon can be, and then having a staff that’s going to work to go get those guys.”
While Oregon’s ability to flip multiple highly-coveted prospects generated national headlines, it’s equally important to Lanning and his staff that the Ducks held on to every player who was previously committed.
“I just think it speaks to the consistency of our approach. Ultimately, you always want to focus on the guys you get and not the guys you don’t,” Lanning said. “And we did a good job of identifying targets that fit our needs of what we were looking for but also fit our values of what we want in this program.”
