Oregon Flips Baylor QB Commit Austin Novosad
It’s been a wild turn of events for the Oregon Ducks. Specifically at the quarterback position.
The Ducks seemingly scored big by landing a Summer commitment from Martin Luther King (Mich.) quarterback Dante Moore. And up until a couple of weeks ago, his commitment seemed really solid.
However UCLA jumped in the mix and Chip Kelly was able to convince the 6-foot-2, 210-pounder to come play for him in Los Angeles.
Oregon immediately pivoted to a quarterback new OC Will Stein had a relationship with. Unfortunately for Baylor that meant quarterback commit Austin Novosad from Dripping Springs, Texas.
Novosad, a 6-foot-3, 185-pounder, has been committed to Baylor since December of 2021. Over a full year without any other visits.
However Will Stein and Dan Lanning came in late with a strong push to flip Novosad. Including a very low-profile visit over the weekend. It was vital the Ducks got him on campus. It was even more important it was kept quiet.

While there is a sting of losing Dante Moore to UCLA, Oregon did an incredible job with a last-minute plan to go out and secure Novosad. He’ll have a tremendous opportunity to come to Oregon with low pressure and spend a season learning from veteran returner Bo Nix.
In case you missed it, Nix announced on Sunday he will return to Oregon for his final season.
Novosad is the No. 117 ranked player in the On3 Consensus Rankings. He is the No. 10 ranked quarterback nationally.
On3 Scouting Report
Stat-stuffing pure pocket passer with clean mechanics and the ability to throw with timing and touch. Plays in an air-it-out system at the high school level that puts up tons of points. Completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 3,399 yards and 40 touchdowns against 9 interceptions at 10.39 yards per attempt as a junior. Has a natural, tight throwing motion and spins the ball well. Most comfortable when sitting back and delivering from the pocket. Shows nuance as a passer with the ability to deliver well-located throws to all levels. Has room to add mass to his 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame. Tests as a solid athlete, running a 4.87 second 40-yard dash and jumping 34 inches in the vertical. Can do a better job of translating that athleticism to the field. Has not been much of a playmaker outside of the pocket to this point. Rushed for -27 yards as a junior, the highest-rated 2023 quarterback with a negative rushing total.
