Oregon football notebook: Justin Flowe participates during 11-on-11 work
For the first time this season, the portion of practice that was open to reporters featured live 11-on-11 work.
During the second period of Wednesday’s practice, Oregon broke into a “fastball” drill in which the offense was placed in a two-minute drill scenario. A few observations from this period:
- The first-unit defense featured: Casey Rogers, Jordon Riley, Brandon Dorlus, DJ Johnson, Noah Sewell, Jeffrey Bassa, Bennett Williams, Steve Stephens IV, Christian Gonzalez, Trikweze Bridges, and Dontae Manning
- The first-unit offensive line was as expected. From left to right, it featured: T.J. Bass, Marcus Harper II, Alex Forsyth, Ryan Walk, Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu.
- The first-unit offense also featured: Bucky Irving, Troy Franklin, Chase Cota, Kris Hutson, and Patrick Herbert working with Bo Nix.
- Bucky Irving broke off a long run during a nice drive from the first-team offense.
- The second-unit defense was: Treven Ma’ae, Keyon Ware-Hudson, Mase Funa, Justin Flowe, Keith Brown, Jackson LaDuke, Darren Barkins, Jahlil Florence, Jamal Hill, Bryan Addison, and JJ Greenfield
- Ty Thompson ran the second-unit offense and worked with a group that featured Sean Dollars, Terrance Ferguson, Josh Delgado, Isaah Crocker, and Seven McGee
- The third-unit defense was more difficult to decipher, as it featured a cluster of players wearing scout team numbers. But the group included Bradyn Swinson and Jake Shipley.
- Dont’e Thornton was working with the third-team offense, which was led by Jay Butterfield.
- Byron Cardwell did not work with any of the three offensive units, but it’s unclear what his health status is at this point. Cardwell practiced but was in sneakers instead of cleats.
Prior to Wednesday’s 11-on-11 work, Oregon went through the usual special teams drills to begin practice. Kris Hutson, Josh Delgado, Seven McGee, and Chase Cota all got reps returning punts. Cota had not been working with that group in recent days.
Oregon had a “pressure kick” scenario at the end of the first period once again, this time with Andrew Boyle kicking off to Kris Hutson.

Oregon coach getting NFL buzz
There are no new injuries to report. The same group of players dealing with long-term injuries — defensive lineman Popo Aumavae, Maceal Afaese, Sua’ava Poti, and offensive lineman Steven Jones — were absent. But as was the case on Tuesday, they were the only players who were absent.
Dan Lanning is scheduled to meet with reporters this afternoon, and a handful of Oregon offensive players will also be made available for interviews.
