Four-star EDGE Tobi Haastrup Commits to Oregon
2025 On3 Industry four-star Houston (Tex.) Mayde Creek EDGE Tobi Haastrup has committed to Oregon.
He announced his decision on Wednesday during the early signing period, choosing the Ducks from a top six that also included Missouri, USC, Florida State, Michigan and Texas Tech.
Haastrup took official visits to each of his finalists before coming to a decision, and Oregon was the last school to host him, with the 6-foot-3, 235-pound prospect visiting for the Washington game to close the regular season.
The newest Duck sees something special in Eugene
Having had such a busy last month of visits, Oregon needed to make a strong impression during that trip and the Ducks showed what makes them different.
“Oregon, I would just say the culture,” Haastrup told ScoopDuck in a recent interview. “Everywhere you go there’s different cultures. And Oregon has a culture that definitely expands out in terms of the people themselves. Fans are definitely ones that’s different than any other fans that I’ve seen. You just go up to someone or someone comes up to you just because you’re wearing Oregon or you’re a part of the whole situation they show their love. And that’s definitely something that I notice is different with Oregon, the love from the whole people aspect is different.”

The Texas defender is very new to football, with the 2024 season being his first full season. He also has a strong track and field background, although he’s expected to focus on football at the next level.
Haastrup is the second edge rusher in Oregon’s 2025 class, as he joins four-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei standout Nasir Wyatt in Tosh Lupoi and Kamran Araghi’s outside linebacker room.
Oregon’s Texas pipeline continues to grow
The newest Duck is the third player from the Lone Star State to commit to Oregon this cycle, joining five-star plus Duncanville (Tex.) wide receiver Dakorien Moore and four-star Conroe (Tex.) cornerback Dorian Brew.
Oregon doesn’t have a glaring need at outside linebacker/defensive end in the 2025 recruiting class thanks to the emergence of sophomores Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti, but keeping the position room full of intriguing talent like Haastrup and Wyatt is crucial for the Ducks to maintain and develop quality defensive line depth for years to come.
