4-Star CB Samari Matthews Announces Final Four Schools

2026 four-star Huntersville (NC) Williams Amos Hough cornerback Samari Matthews has whittled down his list of top schools. On Friday the No. 4 cornerback in the On3 Industry ranking announced his top four schools with Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports.
Oregon made the cut, along with the Clemson Tigers, Florida State Seminoles and South Carolina Gamecocks.
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and secondary coach Chris Hampton made the trip out to North Carolina to visit him earlier this week.
That trip clearly helped the Ducks claw their way back into the picture after not being included in his top eight schools in November.
“The crazy thing about me growing up I was a big Oregon fanatic. I used to love Oregon,” Matthews told ScoopDuck in an interview. “So just being able to meet the head coach of Oregon, it was definitely unexpected. It was definitely unreal to me. It was just pretty much like a heart-warming moment for me, for my younger self. He would definitely be going crazy.”

Matthews is listed at 6’0″, 180 pounds and is rated a four-star (93.09) recruit by the On3 Industry ranking. The same system ranks him the No. 51 prospect nationally, the No. 4 cornerback and the No. 7 player in North Carolina.
The North Carolina standout has never visited Oregon, but the Ducks clearly have a chance in his recruitment after landing in his top schools. The coveted cornerback told ScoopDuck that he plans to take a visit to Oregon in the spring
The Ducks have yet to land a commitment from a defensive back in the 2026 cycle, but they’re in the mix for a slew of top-tier talent. Other cornerback targets worth monitoring are USC commit Brandon Lockhart, four-star Davon Benjamin, Elbert Hill and Victor Singleton among others.
