2026 four-star Frankfort Heights (Ill.) Lincoln Way East quarterback Jonas Williams has flipped his commitment from the Oregon Ducks to the USC Trojans. On3’s Hayes Fawcett broke the news on Friday afternoon.

“Trojan nation, let’s turn up,” Williams said of his decision.

The 6-foot-1 1/2, 200-pound passer had been committed to the Ducks since August 2024. Williams is ranked the No. 94 prospect nationally, the No. 6 quarterback and the No. 2 prospect in Illinois according to the On3 rankings.

Speculation around a possible flip for Williams started to reach a fever pitch on the heels of a trip out to Los Angeles for USC’s Junior Day recruiting weekend in early February. Head coach Lincoln Riley also visited Williams’ school during the January contact period, a sign that the Trojans had been making him a priority for some time. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning also visited Williams during that same window.

Following Williams’ flip to USC, Oregon still has the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2026 cycle according to the On3 rankings.

This move hardly catches the staff by surprise, as offensive coordinator Will Stein and the Ducks have had their pulse on two other top-tier quarterbacks in the 2026 class.

Other names to know in Oregon quarterback recruiting following Williams flip

Five-star Nashville (Tenn.) Christian School quarterback Jared Curtis and five-star Folsom (Calif.) quarterback Ryder Lyons are the two signal callers Duck fans need to know about it.

Curtis is the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 class according to On3 and Lyons the No. 3 quarterback.

Curtis was previously committed to the Georgia Bulldogs and named Oregon his leader after de-committing from the Bulldogs in October. The 6-foot-3 1/2, 225-pound quarterback has an official visit with the Ducks scheduled for June 6.

As for Lyons, his recruitment features just about every high-profile school in the country. He’s been focusing on Oregon as well as BYU and Ole Miss in his recruitment, while recent offers from Ohio State, North Carolina and Arizona also have his attention.

The Ducks are expected to host him for an official visit and the main difference worth noting between him and Curtis is that he will take a mission trip with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints upon graduating. He plans to enroll at his school of choice in time for the 2027 college football season.
