High school football season is coming to an end across the country, and four-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive lineman Tomuhini Topui, an Oregon commit since October, has had a tremendous year.

He capped off that year on Friday night in Mission Viejo at Saddleback Community College with a 37-15 win over the De La Salle Spartans to capture a California State open division state championship.

The defensive lineman was also named the most valuable player in the Trinity League, which is viewed as one of the most talented and difficult leagues in all of high school football.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound lineman was a force all year for the Monarchs en route to their perfect 13-0 season.

He made plays throughout the season as the cornerstone piece of Mater Dei’s interior defensive line. The future Duck also played fullback occasionally, helping pave the way for fellow Oregon commit, four-star running back Jordon Davison, who was a force to be reckoned with running the ball out of the Monarchs’ backfield.

Topui also made a number of big plays on special teams during his junior year.

He was one of a handful of future Ducks that took home league honors for a great 2024 season.

The aforementioned Davison was named co-Most Valuable Offensive Player alongside four-star Orange (Calif.) Lutheran tight end and Arizona State signee AJ Ia.

Other Oregon commits that were recognized include 2026 four-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei offensive lineman Kodi Greene, who was named the co-Most Valuable Lineman along with 2025 Orange (Calif.) Lutheran defensive tackle Jireh Moe, a San Jose State signee.

Four-star Oregon EDGE signee Nasir Wyatt was named co-Most Valuable Defensive Player along with 2026 Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic linebacker Dash Fifita.

Oregon has a strong recruiting pipeline to Mater Dei, and one other big name to watch for is 2026 five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., who is committed to Ohio State.
