Oregon Lands in Top Five for Elite Safety Jireh Edwards
The Oregon Ducks find themselves in the top five for 2026 four-star Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy safety Jireh Edwards. The DMV blue-chipper released his updated finalists on Wednesday and will be focusing on Oregon, Auburn, Texas A&M, Georgia and Tennessee.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound defensive back is the No. 37 player nationally, the No. 4 safety and the No. 3 prospect in Maryland, according to the On3 rankings.
Edwards has taken numerous trips across the country to Eugene, visiting Oregon for the team’s Saturday Night Live camp in July, and taking in a Duck game during this past season.
The opportunity to play at Oregon and join one of the best teams in college football isn’t an opportunity he’s taking lightly.
“Just being able to play in that green and yellow,” the four-star recruit told ScoopDuck of his interest in the Ducks. “Knowing the culture they have, the people that came out of there like Marcus Mariota, DeAnthony Thomas. Just playing under that standard under coach Lanning, as soon to be one of the great head coaches of all time. That would be a lot. That would be real big.

Oregon could make some real noise in the DMV area in 2026
The coveted defensive back is one of the main players Dan Lanning and the Ducks would love to add to their growing pipeline into the DMV area.
They have some momentum on their side in recent signing classes. Just last month the Ducks inked On3 Industry four-star cornerback Brandon Finney from Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh. A year before that Oregon signed four-star highly-touted cornerback Ify Obidedgwu, the No. 1 prospect in Maryland from Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy.
There are more players worth keeping tabs on for Oregon’s 2026 recruiting efforts out that way. Two others Duck fans should monitor closely are Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy EDGE Zion Elee, On3’s No. 1 overall prospect who’s committed to Maryland, and five-star+ plus Baltimore (Md.) Georgetown Preparatory School offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho.
Both Elee and Iheanacho have visited Oregon and remain priority targets for Lanning and company in this next recruiting cycle.
