Oregon hasn’t made a ton of noise recruiting the state of Georgia, but that could soon change as 2026 four-star Carrollton (Ga.) cornerback Dorian Barney has his eye on the Ducks.

On Sunday the No. 94 player in the On3 Industry rankings placed Oregon in his top schools. Other schools like Ohio State, Penn State, Ole Miss and Michigan all made the cut as well.

The 6-foot 1/2 170-pound cornerback has yet to visit Oregon, but a trip to Eugene this spring could help the Ducks gain some ground his recruitment.

“This a really special group of schools,” Barney told On3’s Chad Simmons on his top group. “I could go play ball all over the country. I could play out west, in the south, up north, or go play in any conference, but the schools on this list are because of the relationships I have built. It starts with the head coach, the defensive coordinator, the position and the other defensive back coaches in the room. That is the start for me.”

The Ducks have raised their recruiting profile in the Southeast in each of the last few cycles. Most notably in 2025, Oregon flipped five-star+ plus Birmingham (Ala.) Parker cornerback Na’eem Offord from Ohio State during the early signing period. Barney is one of the top defensive backs in the region and Lanning and the Ducks have their work cut out for them going against blue-blood programs.

Oregon has yet to land a commitment from a defensive back in the 2026 recruiting class, but the coaching staff has cast a wide net with some great prospects. Names like four-star Davon Benjamin, five-star Elbert Hill and four-star USC commit Brandon Lockhart are all worth monitoring on the recruiting trail.

Oregon’s 2026 recruiting class ranks No. 1 nationally by On3.
