Elite CB Havon Finney Jr. Reclassifies to 2026, Oregon a School Standing Out

Oregon is looking to bring in the best talent at every position on the recruiting trail and one of the Ducks’ top targets, four-star Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon cornerback Havon Finney Jr., is speeding up his process.
Finney, who was previously ranked the No. 2 cornerback in the 2027 class, will reclassify to 2026, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound defensive back visited Oregon, USC and UCLA in January and the Ducks are battling with some of the biggest names in college football.
“It was good,” he told ScoopDuck following his January visit to Oregon. “You could tell they put a lot into the football program, and they do a lot for the players there. They develop them very well and it’s cool that the head coach is a defensive coach.”
Oregon has been recruiting Finney for a long time, with his scholarship from the Ducks coming all the way back in June 2023.
He’s taken multiple visits out to Eugene in the time since and is one of a handful of priority targets for Rashad Wadood and the Ducks at cornerback.
But the Ducks aren’t without some real competition. Finney has landed offers from Ohio State, Michigan and Oklahoma this month.

He’s got a big group of schools that are standing out as he eyes spring visits. That list includes LSU, Texas A&M, Georgia and Texas among others.
Following his decision to reclassify to the 2026 class, the coveted defensive back will now take his official visits in the summer months. In an interview with On3’s Chad Simmons, he highlighted Oregon as a school that’s well positioned to receive an official visit.
“I am planning to commit before the season,” Finney told Simmons of his timeline for a decision. “This decision speeds up the process, so I will continue to build relationships, take the visits and make my decision.”
Now that he’s a member of the 2026 class, Finney joins the likes of Davon Benjamin (CA), Elbert Hill (OH), Brandon Arrington Jr. (CA) and Samari Matthews as top cornerback targets for Oregon. The Ducks do not have a verbal commitment at cornerback this cycle, but they do have some momentum at defensive back after landing four-star safety Xavier Lherisse earlier this week.
