Former Florida State wide receiver Malik Benson is down to a final three schools as he navigates his transfer portal recruitment. The former Seminole will decide from a top group of Oregon, Kansas State and Tennesse, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports.

Benson entered the transfer portal in December after spending one season with Mike Norvell’s program in Tallahassee. He also played for Alabama in 2023, Nick Saban’s final season as a college football head coach.

In 2024 Benson caught 25 passes for 311 yards and one touchdown. He will have one more season of college eligibility remaining, as he spent time at the junior college level prior to making his Division 1 debut in Tuscaloosa.

During his junior college career he made a big name for himself and earned a No. 1 overall ranking nationally. Coaches were likely also impressed by his track speed, as he qualified for the state championship in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 4×100 meter relay.

The Ducks recruited Benson initially when he was coming out of junior college with the class of 2023 and received an official visit.

Fans should expect his recruitment to move quickly, with Benson set to visit both Oregon and Tennessee this weekend, as reported by On3’s Pete Nakos earlier this week. He’s one of two transfers expected to visit the Ducks this weekend. The staff is also expected to host former Tulane running back Makhi Hughes on campus.

Oregon may have a need at wide receiver this offseason with some expected losses.

Seniors Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden both exhaust their college eligibility. Dynamic wideout Evan Stewart has yet to announce his decision for the 2025 football season, as is also the case with Gary Bryant Jr.

Junior Adams has stacked the wide receiver room with young talent, but not many of the highly-touted recruits have seen a lot of playing time with the position featuring many experienced seniors.
