QUAAACK: Oregon Lands USC DL Transfer Bear Alexander
Dan Lanning and the Ducks continue to clean up in the transfer portal, with former USC defensive lineman Bear Alexander announcing his commitment to Oregon moments ago.
He took his final visit with the Ducks this week and chose Lanning’s program from a final group that also included the Penn State Nittany Lions and SMU Mustangs.
Alexander, a redshirt sophomore, will have two more seasons of college eligibility remaining upon enrolling at Oregon.
He spent the 2022 season at Georgia as a true freshman and played for Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans the last two seasons, before opting to utilize a redshirt this fall.
Across his three seasons, the 6-foot-3, 315-pounder has recorded 61 total tackles, 3.5 sacks and 4 pass breakups.

As a recruit in the 2022 class, the Denton, Texas native was rated a four-star (96.33 per On3 Industry) prospect. He was ranked the No. 43 player nationally, the No. 7 defensive lineman and the No. 8 prospect in Florida out of IMG Academy in Bradenton. Alexander was recognized as an Under Armour All-American.
Alexander helps Oregon address a need
The former Trojan turned Duck is the sixth overall transfer portal commitment for Oregon and the first defensive lineman.
His addition comes at a position of need for the 2025 season with the Ducks potentially without both Derrick Harmon and JaMaree Caldwell on the interior of the defensive line. Lanning and Oregon signed a trio of prospects along the defensive line in the 2025 recruiting class earlier this month with Matt Johnson, Nasir Wyatt and Tobi Haastrup all choosing to play their college football in Eugene.
Alexander joins a transfer portal class that features safety Dillon Thieneman, cornerback Theran Johnson, tight end Jamari Johnson, offensive tackle Isaiah World and offensive tackle Alex Harkey. Fans can expect Oregon to continue pursuing players in the transfer portal moving forward, particularly after the first round of the college football playoff, with more players looking for new homes.
