Former USC defensive lineman Bear Alexander is one of the top defensive prospects in the transfer portal, after officially entering on Monday. On Tuesday he tabbed Oregon as one of three schools standing out to him as he navigates the transfer portal a second time.

The other two schools standing out are Penn State and SMU, according to a report from On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

The 6-foot-3, 315-pound junior spent the last two seasons in Los Angeles at USC after transferring from Georgia prior to the 2023 season. He played in a total of 16 games with the Trojans and logged 51 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He also defended two passes.

Alexander opted to redshirt after playing in three games during the 2024 season. According to reports, he is now eying a visit to Oregon on December 22.

As a recruit in the class of 2022, he was rated a four-star (96.33 per On3 Industry) prospect. The same system ranked him the No. 43 player nationally, the No. 7 defensive lineman and the No. 8 prospect in Florida.

Alexander signed with the Georgia Bulldogs after playing his senior season at powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Prior to playing at IMG Academy, the Terrell, Texas native also spent time at Skyline High School (Dallas), Ryan High School (Denton) and Terrell High School.

Oregon could be looking for more help along the defensive line for the 2025 season, as they could be without veteran linemen Jordan Burch, Jamaree Caldwell and Derrick Harmon.

Burch and Caldwell will be out of eligibility, but Harmon could choose to come back to Oregon for one more season with the Ducks.

While the transfer portal just opened on Monday, it appears Alexander is a name worth monitoring for Duck fans.
