Oregon gains ground in AP Poll, Coaches Poll following win over Washington State
The Oregon Ducks produced another dynamic offensive performance en route to a 38-24 win over Washington State in Eugene on Saturday.
As a result, they gained ground in both of the major national polls.
In the AP Poll, the Ducks jumped one spot to No. 8 and accumulated 1,133 points. They are one of five Pac-12 teams that landed inside the top 25, along with Washington (No. 5), Oregon State (No. 11), Utah (No. 13), UCLA (No. 23), and USC (No. 24).
In the US LBM Coaches Poll, Oregon surged two spots and now sits at No. 9. Elsewhere in the Pac-12, Washington (No. 5), Oregon State (No. 12), Utah (No. 13), USC (No. 22), and UCLA (N0. 24) also cracked the top 25.
The Ducks and the Utes are set to face off in Salt Lake City next weekend with the ESPN College Gameday crew in town.
“I think they came out and they took a team’s best punch,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said of his team’s win over the Cougars. “Washington State played really hard today, too. And they had some big moments within that game. I don’t think our guys ever got rattled. They stayed focused in the moment and that’s really what playing great football is about being one-play focus. But I know this, there’s a lot of things that we want to get right and I think we can do better. I know the quality of players we have in that room. We have to go execute at a higher level moving forward.”
