Oregon lands commitment from former five-star receiver Evan Stewart
The Oregon Ducks have made another major splash in the transfer portal.
On Thursday, former Texas A&M receiver Evan Stewart announced that he has committed to transfer to Oregon. He will join the Ducks with three years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot, 175-pound sophomore was the No. 1 receiver and the No. 2 overall player in the transfer portal according to On3.
One of the more sheerly talented receivers in all of college football, Stewart was a five-star signee in the 2022 class and the No. 8 overall prospect.
Last season, he caught 38 passes for 514 yards and four touchdowns with the Aggies.
LSU and Tennessee were also reportedly in contention to land Stewart.
He will join an Oregon receiver room that features Tez Johnson, Traeshon Holden, Gary Bryant Jr., and Jurrion Dickey, among others.
Stewart is Oregon’s eighth transfer commitment of the current cycle.
More on Oregon’s offseason outlook
Few programs in all of college football experienced a greater amount of transfer portal activity than Oregon did during the 2023 cycle.
A total of 30 Oregon scholarship players entered the portal during the previous two transfer windows — 21 in the winter and nine in the spring. Meanwhile, the Ducks added 14 scholarship players during that same period.
Many of their portal additions — including receiver Tez Johnson, cornerback Khyree Jackson, safety Evan Williams, and right tackle Ajani Cornelius — locked down starting jobs and played key roles during the 2023 season.
This offseason, Oregon will once again look for opportunities to improve its roster by way of the portal.
