Oregon LB Bryce Boettcher Set to Return

The Oregon defense got a huge boost late Tuesday night. Something we’ve been talking about on ScoopDuck for at least a month has become official.
Oregon linebacker Bryce Boettcher announced on his Instagram he plans on returning for another season. This is some massive news for Dan Lanning and his staff returning one of its top tacklers from this season.
Most expected Boettcher to head to major league baseball, where he had been drafted by the Houston Astros in the 13th round.

This season Boettcher played his way into a consistent starting role in the Oregon defense. He recorded 94 total tackles, 50 solo tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble and interception this season. He was one of the leaders of this hard-hitting Oregon defense.
Boettcher should have a starting linebacker spot locked in. With Jeffrey Bassa heading to the NFL, the other starting spot should be up for grabs by one of Lanning’s younger backers.
