Joe Moorhead’s tenure as Oregon’s offensive coordinator has ended.

Saturday morning, Akron announced that it has hired Moorhead as its next head coach.

Moorhead spent two seasons as Oregon’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

A Pittsburgh native, Moorhead spent 2004-2008 working as an assistant at Akron and was its offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during his final three years there.

He earned $1.15 million in his final season at Oregon and his contract ran through Jan. 2023. Because he became an FBS head coach, his buyout was waived.

In 2021, the Ducks ranked fourth in points per game and fifth in yards per game among Pac-12 programs.
