Oregon officially signs former South Carolina guard Jermaine Couisnard

On Friday, Oregon made the addition of one of its transfer portal additions official.
Ducks’ coach Dana Altman announced that his program has signed Jermaine Couisnard, a 6-foot-4 guard who is transferring in from South Carolina.
“Jermaine continues to grow as a player and is a tough guard with experience against high-level competition,” Altman said in a press release. “He is the type of player that will fit in well here at Oregon and we’re excited to have him.”
The Ducks landed a commitment from Couisnard on May 5. He became the second guard to commit to the Ducks this offseason, joining Colorado transfer Keeshawn Barthelemy.
Couisnard was the No. 43 player in the On3 transfer portal rankings and chose Oregon over offers from Gonzaga, Ohio State, UMass, and several others.

Last season, Couisnard led the Gamecocks with 12 points per game and also averaged 3.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game for a South Carolina program that finished fifth in the SEC. He comes to Oregon with two years of eligibility remaining.
With Couisnard and Barthelemy in the fold, Oregon is now awaiting a decision from its starting point guard and leading scorer, Will Richardson, who has filed for early entry in the NBA Draft.
Richardson has until June 1 to remove his name from the draft if he wishes to return to school.
