For the second straight year Oregon is sending its quarterback to New York as a finalist for the Heisman trophy. The prestigious award honors the best player in college football regardless of position.

Last year Oregon quarterback, now Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix also went to New York as a finalist. This year Dillon Gabriel will do the same hoping to win the award.

The star from Mililani (Hawaii) will be joined by fellow finalists Travis Hunter (ATH) from Colorado, Ashton Jeanty (RB) from Boise State and Cam Ward (QB) from Miami.

This season Gabriel has led Oregon to a 13-0 season and has started every game for the Ducks. Along the way he has thrown for over 3,500 yards and has thrown 28 touchdowns to 6 interceptions. He now has over 18,000 yards in his college career and over 150 touchdowns.

Earlier Gabriel was named the Big Ten offensive player of the year by the conference.

His next game will be at the Rose bowl against the winner of Tennessee vs Ohio State in the first round of the playoffs on New Years day.
