One of Oregon’s more highly-touted young players — and a fan favorite — appears set to leave the program.

Freshman running back Seven McGee announced on Instagram Monday that he will enter the transfer portal.

“To my teammates, I love you guys,” McGee wrote in a post. “It’s been real all the memories and funny moments. But with that being said I will like to announce that I will enter the transfer portal.”

McGee was the No. 178 overall prospect and the No. 11 running back in the class of 2021. He committed to Oregon clear back in Nov. 2018 and endeared himself to Duck fans with his enthusiastic support for the program long before he arrived in Eugene.

During his true freshman season with the Ducks, McGee ran 11 times for 61 yards and a touchdown and caught six passes for 78 yards. He was also Oregon’s primary punt return after Mycah Pittman transferred away from the program.

Even with McGee’s departure, the Ducks still have a loaded running back room. CJ Verdell and Travis Dye are both eligible to return if they choose to do so, and Byron Cardwell, Sean Dollars, and Trey Benson all figure to battle for playing time next season.
