One of the Oregon softball program’s top pitchers is reportedly on the move.

Ducks’ junior right-hander Makenna Kliethermes has entered the transfer portal, according to a report from James Crepea of The Oregonian/OregonLive.

During the 2021 season, Kliethermes was second among Oregon pitchers with a 3.65 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 117 innings. She finished the year with an 11-7 record in 32 appearances, 16 of which were starts.

At the Fayetteville regional last weekend, Kliethermes threw 15 1/3 innings and struck out 13 for the Ducks while recording a 2-2 record.

A Wardsville, Mo., native who was the Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior, Kliethermes was the No. 28 player in her class according to FloSoftball.

With Kliethermes’ departure, the Ducks now have four pitchers set to return in 2023. Ace Stevie Hansen, who led the team with a 3.27 ERA this year, is among those four.
