The Oregon baseball program is one of the hottest teams in the Pac-12 at the moment and made a notable leap in the national rankings after notching a series win over Arizona State.

The Ducks (30-13, 13-8 Pac-12) climbed to No. 17 in the updated D1Baseball rankings on Monday.

That marks the highest they have been ranked at any point this season.

Over the weekend, the Ducks squared off with Arizona State, which was ranked No. 12 and sat atop the Pac-12 standings when the series began.

Oregon nabbed an 11-5 win to open the series on Friday and then won 16-10 on Saturday. In Sunday’s finale, the Ducks raced out to a 5-0 lead but ultimately lost 9-6 and missed out on a chance to sweep the Sun Devils.

“We like our ball club,” Oregon coach Mark Wasikowski, who won his 200th career game as a head coach, said following the Ducks’ Friday win. “We’ve liked our ball club the whole time. Arizona State’s played well for the whole season … and they’re a good team. We showed up ready to play today.”

Oregon is one of four Pac-12 teams that cracked the D1Baseball top-25 this week.

Stanford (No. 7), Oregon State (No. 15), and Arizona State (No. 20) also made the cut. The Beavers lept seven spots after clinching a series sweep of Arizona.

The top five this week remained unchanged from last week. LSU held strong at No. 1, followed by Wake Forest, South Carolina, Florida, and Vanderbilt.

Elsewhere in the national polls, Collegiate Baseball tabbed the Ducks as the No. 10 team in the nation this week.

Baseball America listed the Ducks at No. 17. In the USA Today Coaches Poll, the Ducks landed at No. 19.

Oregon will travel to Corvallis for a one-game mid-week matchup with Oregon State Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. PT. Then, it will travel to USC for a three-game road series this weekend.

Over the next week, the third-place Ducks will hope to close the gap on first-place Stanford in the Pac-12 standings.
