One of the things that makes spring football fun for any school is all the new faces that have joined the program. This week Oregon will welcome two of their prized recruits from the 2025 class to campus, as four-star cornerback Brandon Finney and four-star running back Dierre Hill Jr. have enrolled at the U of O.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Finney was the No. 64 player nationally, the No. 8 cornerback and the No. 1 prospect in Maryland according to the 2025 On3 rankings. The 6-foot, 190-pound Hill, a do-it-all back from Illinois, was ranked the No. 141 player nationally, the No. 6 running back and the No. 6 prospect in the state according to the same rankings.

Finney’s recruitment was loaded with drama, as schools like Michigan and Penn State made late pushes to flip him away from his Oregon pledge, which he originally made in late June of last year. In fact, both On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons and I had logged predictions for Finney to flip to the Nittany Lions, but you have to give credit where it’s due. The Oregon staff battled tooth and nail until the very end and were able to secure his signature in December.

And that battle could end up being worth every ounce of effort it took. I had one source close to the program tell me they think Finney could be the true freshman cornerback that’s most likely to see snaps this season. Rashad Wadood and Chris Hampton also signed five-star+ prospect Na’eem Offord and four-star Texas prep Dorian Brew in arguably the top defense back haul (Trey McNutt) of the 2025 cycle. Only time will tell if that ends up being the case.

As for Hill, he’s one of the most exciting recruits the Ducks signed in 2025. He rushed for 2,588 yards and 40 touchdowns his senior season en route to an Illinois State title with Althoff Catholic. After beating out the likes of Ohio State to land his commitment, Hill joins a running back room loaded with other talented backs like Makhi Hughes, Noah Whittington, Da’Jaun ‘Dink’ Riggs, Jayden Limar and Jordon Davison.

Finney and Hill become the 15th and 16th players from Oregon’s 19-man recruiting class to join the team as early enrollees. Former Ole Miss defensive back Jadon Canady will also join the team this week as the Ducks resume spring practice.
